Volunteer With Cancer PALS
Volunteers are the heart of Cancer PALS Foundation. Every act of service helps strengthen support for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and families across our community.
Whether you have a few hours to give, a professional skill to share, or a passion for walking alongside families impacted by cancer, there may be a place for you at Cancer PALS.
Why volunteer
Cancer PALS volunteers help turn compassion into action. Volunteers support prevention education, community outreach, fundraising, mentorship, events, administrative work, and quality-of-life support initiatives.
By volunteering, you help build a community where no one has to face cancer alone.

What we ask of volunteers
Cancer PALS volunteers are expected to represent the organization with compassion, reliability, and professionalism.
Volunteers should be willing to:
- Treat every person with dignity and respect
- Maintain confidentiality
- Communicate clearly and respectfully
- Follow safety and role guidelines
- Maintain healthy boundaries
- Attend required orientation or training
- Show up reliably for assigned commitments
- Ask for help when a situation is outside their role or comfort level
Healthy boundaries
Volunteers may not provide medical advice, mental health counseling, legal advice, financial advice, or other professional services unless specifically authorized by Cancer PALS and appropriately credentialed.
Volunteers should avoid relationships or situations that create dependency, conflicts of interest, unsafe conditions, or confusion about their role. Concerns about safety, boundaries, or confidentiality should be shared with organizational leadership.
How onboarding works
1. Submit interest
Let us know you are interested in volunteering and tell us about your availability, interests, skills, and preferred ways to serve.
2. Complete orientation
Orientation introduces the Cancer PALS mission, values, confidentiality expectations, communication standards, safety guidelines, and volunteer role expectations.
3. Complete role-specific steps
Depending on the role, additional training, screening, references, background checks, or certifications may be required.
4. Get connected to service
Volunteers may be connected with events, committees, outreach efforts, fundraising, mentorship opportunities, administrative support, or patient and caregiver support initiatives based on organizational needs and volunteer interests.
Volunteer recognition
Cancer PALS values the time and heart our volunteers give. Recognition may include appreciation events, certificates, social media recognition, recommendation letters, leadership opportunities, milestone acknowledgments, or public appreciation during campaigns and events.
